Vacancy: Diesel Mechanic
The company would like to recruit a Diesel Mechanic to be based at Khanye Colliery, in Bronkhorstspruit.
DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this role is to assist the electrician to provide a safe and reliable working environment by conducting repairs, legal inspections and maintenance of the plant and other support equipment and facilities.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have minimum of N2 in Diesel Theory
Technical degree a plus
Must have Code 10 driver’s license
Diesel Mechanic Trade
Auto-electrical experience would be advantageous
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3-year experience with diesel diagnosis and maintenance
Must have previous experience on TMMs
Mining experience will be an advantage
OTHER SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Willing to work shifts, nightshifts, weekends and public holidays
Knowledge of technical aspects of heavy vehicles
Successfully complete medical evaluation
Absolutely NO previous criminal record
Ability to perform Annual Inspections
Solid understanding and adherence to safety and environmental standards
Ability to work independently, under pressure and multitask
Must be willing to work shifts and overtime as requested by the management
OEM (Original Engineering Manufacture) previous training such as Hitachi, CAT Volvo
Komatsu would be advantageous
Must be physically fit and energetic
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties will include but not limited to:
Follow a checklist of inspection procedures
Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as an oscilloscope, which is used to measure the voltage produced by electronic components
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles
Do routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts
Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components
Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment
Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly and diagnose malfunctions
Ad-Hoc duties as and when required
Experience within the transport industry earthmoving equipment will be advantageous
Assist with breakdowns
Adhere to safe working procedures
