Vacancy: Blasting Assistant

The company would like to recruit a Blasting Assistant to be based at Khanye Colliery in Bronkhorstspruit.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 

• Valid blasting assistant certificate-Open cast 

• Driver’s license code 10 

• Be able to acquire medical certificate of fitness 

• Knowledge of opencast mining  

EXPERIENCE

• 1-2 Years relevant experience 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comply with appointments including regulations and Mine Health and Safety Act

• Complete checklist

• Assist blaster with marking of holes to be drilled

• Measuring of shot holes

• Offload explosives with the blaster

• Priming blast holes

• Monitoring of the blasting bench

• Act as a guard during blasting

• Good housekeeping

• Participate in mine safety programme

• Stemming of shot holes

• Connecting of blasting rounds
