Vacancy: Environmental Officer (Compliance And Licensing) X1
The company would like to recruit an Environmental Officer (Compliance and Licensing) to be based at Head Office (Sandton).
DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this role is for licensing of new projects and environmental compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in Environmental Management or related fields.
Must be computer literate.
Microsoft Office is essential.
Must have 3 to 4 years’ experience
Working knowledge and understanding of all environmental related legislation.
Must be able to organize and lead.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication abilities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Other Skills/Competencies:
Must be able to adapt his / her plans to suite any changes.
Conveys information to individuals and ensure that they understand.
Innovating ways to deal with environmental related work problems.
Organising and guiding the environmental requirements as per licenses and operational requirements.
Must take decisions on how to cope with changing environments within the workplace.
Take initiative in solving environmental problems.
Must be professional in dealing with all stakeholders.
Be proactive, take prompt action.
Must be aware of all safety related issues.
Must be able to supervise the activities of the sub-ordinates reporting to him / her.
Setting high standards of performance for self and others.
Assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage enviro-legal processes required for new and existing projects.
Ensure compliance with all enviro-legal licenses for the operations.
Develop / implement long term environmental plans for the mine.
Development and implement the Environmental Management Programme to address and mitigate environmental responsibility through to mine closure.
Ensuring environmental targets are maintained.
Proactive approach to all environmental related issues.
Mentoring and coaching of interns and graduates in training.
Use of GIS for all mapping requirements.
